Welcome to my first post in what will surely be a rambly journey through space and time.

 

I guess I should get down to the nitty gritty of it.  What’s the point of this blog?  Well, I’ve realized recently that although I try to read and listen to a lot of books, podcasts, articles, stories, songs, etc., I often forget subtleties of things explained because I don’t write about what I’m reading.  So while I can glean an overall theme from, say, an article about the evolution of hip-hop rhyme schemes, often times I forget the intervening facts that lead me to a conclusion.

 

So I want to use this space as almost an informal reporting session.  A way to summarize, in some more detail, why certain books, movies, articles, speak to me.

 

A few years ago, I made a Google Document that operated in the same way.  But I stopped contributing to it many moons ago, and so I have decided to migrate these summaries to this blog.
